When your business is you
When your business is you…
And you are your business?
Once upon a time, a great product was enough to win the market.
Not anymore!
Who you are and what you stand for as a founder can make or break your brand.
Take someone like Elon Musk. His persona is a huge part of Tesla's brand.
And his reputation could make—or break—whether or not someone buys a type of car. It's crazy when you think about it, isn’t it?
We’re continuing the content series with a talk about how we, as entrepreneurs, can ride this wave of change.
How can we adapt without stretching ourselves too thin?
Today in 4 minutes or less:
✔️ When the lines become blurry
✔️ Sanity over vanity
✔️ The framework to become a healthy founder
WHEN THE LINES BECOME BLURRY
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this wild ride as an entrepreneur, it’s that today, you are as much a part of your brand as your product is. Yes, we’re talking about personal branding.
Let me paint the picture: social platforms have essentially turned the marketplace into a non-stop live show.
With platforms like the TikTok Shop, founders are front and center, demoing their products in real-time, engaging with a global audience 24/7.
But here's the catch—it's a double-edged sword. ⚔️
This visibility can skyrocket your business to new heights or drop it down the abyss if not handled wisely.
Remember, in this age, every tweet you send, every post you share, shapes how people see your brand. We’re juggling visibility with vulnerability here, and let me tell you, the stakes are high.
I’ve experienced it firsthand. I’ve had many times when folks had complaints about HL Pro Tools, and they sent threats—right to my own Facebook page.
It was a stark reminder of just how blurred the lines can get between 'Matt the person' and 'Matt the entrepreneur'.
This is a problem that I’ve created for myself… And don’t get me wrong, I welcome Facebook messages. I have a public page for a reason.
If people have problems with their Tesla, they’ll Tweet @ Elon Musk. It’s just the reality.
We just have to make sure that we take time to step back…
And although it quite literally is personal, try not to take it personally.
I’ve learned that as much as our personal passion drives our businesses, setting clear, firm boundaries is non-negotiable.
Let’s keep pushing the envelope, but remember, folks, keep some pages sealed for yourself.
SANITY OVER VANITY
Blending your identity with your business is no small feat. The pressure to always be "on" is exhausting.
But here’s something that’s helped me: It’s hard work. Make sure you’re refueling yourself.
So, how do you keep sane?
Start by carving out solid "me time." Yes, schedule it like it’s the most crucial meeting of your week—because, frankly, it is. Whether it’s unplugging for a tech-free weekend, meditating, or just taking a long walk, make it happen.
Your well-being is the cornerstone of your business's success.
And boundaries—let's talk about those. You don't have to live on your social media apps. It’s perfectly okay to step back, not jump on every notification.
This is how you maintain authenticity and resilience, not just survive but thrive in a world that’s constantly watching.
THE FRAMEWORK TO BE A HEALTHY FOUNDER
Starting as a founder can feel like stepping onto a never-ending rollercoaster.
It’s about finding that sweet spot where your brand resonates so deeply that people can't help but buy into whatever you're selling.
Here’s a no-nonsense guide on becoming a healthy founder.
Find Your Voice: Choose the social media platform that feels the most intuitive for you, whether that's Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, or your own blog. Focus energy on creating content there. Then, leverage AI to repurpose this content for other platforms, maximizing your reach without extra strain.
Genuine Vibes Only: In a sea of curated personas, authenticity isn't just refreshing—it's magnetic. Share your true convictions and passions. Set the tone early, define what your brand stands for, and equally important, what it does not. This clarity will not only attract the right audience but also repel the wrong one, saving you from potential stress and misalignments.
Smart Scheduling: Use tools like the social media planner in HighLevel to schedule posts and monitor interactions. Schedule, monitor, and stay consistent—without letting it consume you.
Echo Chamber Check: Listen to what your audience says; their insights can help you navigate your brand toward not just success but relevance.
Remember, building a brand is a marathon, not a sprint.
Taking these steps will ensure you're in for the long haul, building a brand that's not only successful but also sustainable.
As the lines blur between who we are and what we sell, mastering your personal brand is your ticket to long-term relevance and wellness.
Own your narrative, set those boundaries hard, and I promise you—your personal life and your business can do more than just coexist.
When you strike that balance, everything thrives.
To profiting more and working less. 💸
