How I Lost 30 Pounds By Eating More (My Health Update)

I lost 30 lbs by eating MORE šŸ– (my health update)

It’s hard to believe, but it’s almost been TWO years since I first shared my health journey with you—and a lot has changed.

I’m not just talking about losing weight or getting stronger.

I’ve completely shifted how I approach health, wellness, and success.

Since our last update, I’ve dropped 30 pounds, added muscle, and I’m still lifting heavier every week.

But the most important change?

I’ve learned to keep things simple, track my progress, and focus on what matters most. And just like in business, the key to maintaining progress comes down to measurement.

Ready to hear how I got here?

Today in 5 minutes or less:

āœ”ļø 3 KPIs that made sense for me

āœ”ļø Protein first!

āœ”ļø How robots make me healthier

āœ”ļø What can you start tracking today?

3 KPIs THAT MADE SENSE FOR ME

So, what exactly do I track? Simple. There are three KPIs (key performance indicators) I pay attention to:

  1. What I eat: I use MyFitnessPal to track my meals. This isn’t about obsessing over every calorie, but just staying aware of what I’m consuming.

  2. My steps: I aim for 10,000 steps a day. It’s non-negotiable. It keeps me moving and accountable.

  3. My workouts: I track my lifting progress to make sure I’m getting stronger each week.

I’ve been at this for 387 days straight (I know, I can’t believe it either). Which means it’s been over one whole year of tracking.

And honestly, it’s been transformative.

Not just physically, but in how I approach everything—what gets measured gets managed, right? The same applies to your business.

But here's the key—not everyone is going to track the same way.

I’m a bit of a data junkie...

In fact, I have a spreadsheet of every penny I’ve spent in my adult life.

It’s a little intense, but hey, that’s just me. Some people hate tracking—if that’s you, that’s fine! Find what works for you.

Whether it’s tracking your energy, your sales calls, or even your daily thoughts, just find a way to stay accountable and keep your progress in check.

PROTEIN FIRST!

I want to reiterate, I’m not a fitness trainer…

But this is what works for me.

I prioritize protein as the foundation of everything. My goal: 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.

This isn’t some random advice I’m throwing at you—there’s actual science behind it. Studies show that higher protein intake doesn’t just help you build muscle, it helps you preserve muscle while losing fat.

The trick is to burn fat without sacrificing the muscle you’ve worked hard to build.

That’s why I focus on protein first. It’s my non-negotiable.

I’ll eat a full meal with protein at the center, and if I’m hungry, I’ll go for more protein before anything else.

It's a way to make sure I’m losing fat and not muscle.

It’s like how in your business, you need to focus on your time-to-value—that’s where the most impact is.

Your time-to-value = how long it takes to go from some paying you to experiencing value.

And honestly, I’ve found some great swaps to keep things delicious.

Here’s one I’m enjoying: Skinny Pasta. It’s a low-carb, high-volume pasta that’s 9 calories per serving.

Yes, you heard that right. It fills me up without costing me my daily calorie budget.

Another favorite? Keto Wolf sourdough bread from Costco. 30 calories per slice, 10 grams of fiber, and 4 grams of protein.

It's great for feeling full without breaking the calorie bank.

These small swaps let me feel full and stay within my macros without sacrificing the things I love.

Same concept applies in business—small adjustments that add up over time. Find your "protein-first" in business: focus on your highest-leverage tasks and consistently improve on them.

HOW ROBOTS MAKE ME HEALTHIER

Speaking of small swaps, I also discovered something that has saved me so much time: I started taking pictures of my meals and feeding them into ChatGPT.

It actually estimates them with near-perfect accuracy!

It gives me a ballpark for my macros and calories—way faster than weighing food with a pocket scale, which, by the way, I used to do like a crazy person…

Just like my waistline started to shrink the moment I started tracking my tacos, your wealth may just begin to grow as you pay more attention to it.

But here's the kicker: Your attention is a limited commodity. You can't possibly focus on 50 different metrics daily and expect to make progress. It becomes a game of discernment — figuring out which key numbers, if tracked consistently, can guide you toward success.

That’s why I zeroed in on 3 key metrics for business:

  1. Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR): It provides a snapshot of our predictable income stream.

  2. Employee Satisfaction: A happy team is a productive one. Measuring this ensures we're not losing sight of our internal dynamics.

  3. Customer Satisfaction Score: Our business rests on the positive experiences of our customers. Long-term success depends on consistent and responsive care.

It’s not about tracking everything under the sun. Just like how I chose to track JUST my weight, steps, and food—instead of counting pushups, macros, blood sugar levels, BMI—we focus on the metrics that matter most to our business.

WHAT CAN YOU START TRACKING TODAY?

So here’s the deal: health and business are not that different. Both require tracking, consistency, and focusing on what’s most important.

What gets measured gets managed. Whether it's calories or profits, the principle is the same. You can’t get to where you want to be without knowing where you are.

And it doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to track everything. For me, it’s just three simple metrics for health: food, steps, workouts. For your business, it could be revenue, customer satisfaction, and leads. Choose the metrics that matter most and focus on them. Everything else can wait.

The key to making progress is focus.

So, what’s the one area you can start tracking today that will move you closer to your goals? Whether it's a health habit or a business metric, starting small and building from there can lead to massive results.
