How I Made More Time For S’mores, Pumpkins, and Surfing

How I Made More Time For S’mores, Pumpkins, and Surfing
Because… Priorities.

I’ve spent far too much of my life trying to perfect my processes, trying to get everything just right, make everything work smoothly...
All so that I can create margin…
So that I can carve pumpkins on a random Monday afternoon in September with my son. 🎃
Yes, I know it’s early. But he’s obsessed with Halloween, so we make it work. 🤣
Too much of that time was spent running around, fixing things that didn’t even need fixing. I was wasting my energy on non-bottlenecks…
Therefore making zero progress.

Today in 3 minutes or less:

✔️ Low-lift productivity formula

🙋 My New Favorite Team Member
So here’s the deal. I used to create systems that I thought would run like clockwork. I’d create detailed scripts for my team to follow.
But... nothing went as expected.
Somewhere along the way, things would get lost in translation.
Did my team follow the process? Or was the process flawed?
I spent way too much time asking myself:
Is it the SOP? The people? Or a secret third thing?
It felt like a game of telephone.
Then, I hired my new assistant: Custom GPT.
It doesn't need coffee, breaks, or sleep. And it doesn't forget (usually).
I simply feed it a script, and it gets to work…
The result? The process was followed 100% of the time.
Here’s the big win: Instead of me asking my team a million questions to get the info or vice versa, I just plug everything into the GPT, and voilà.
It does everything for me.
What used to be a game of telephone with my team is now a streamlined, automated process.

🤖 Low-lift productivity formula
Honestly, I’ve become a bit obsessed with Custom GPTs. It’s not just about work anymore… it’s helping me stay on top of everything.
I’ve even got it set up on my phone, so now when I’m driving (yes, driving), I literally just talk to Chat GPT.
No more dead air. Instead of listening to the radio, I brainstorm with my AI assistant in real-time.
I ask questions, dive into topics, and get answers all while on the go.
Want to talk about sales? I can ask my GPT how yesterday’s numbers went.
Want to brainstorm? Done.
Have a crazy idea? At least 10 a day.
Here’s the easiest way to do it:
Identify your recurring processes.
What are the things you do every week that take up your time?Maybe it’s onboarding, scheduling, or answering the same questions again and again. Start with one task.
You don’t need to automate everything at once—just pick one.
Build your Custom GPT.
Get clear on the task you want to automate and break it down.Think about it like building a robot version of yourself.
For example, if your process involves sending welcome emails to new clients, you’d teach the GPT how to do just that, automatically.
Test it out.
This is the fun part.Run it for a few weeks, see how it goes.
Does it miss anything? Is there something you want it to do better?
The beauty of GPT is that you can keep improving it without starting from scratch.
Refine and expand.
Once you get comfy with one process, go ahead and scale it.Maybe you add workflows or integrate it with your calendar to schedule calls.
With each new implementation, you’re saving more time and energy.
This gives me the mental space to think differently. To innovate. To create.
How much more could you create if you started doing this? How many more ideas could you execute?

💌 Who Needs to Read This?
If someone you know is:
Carrying a lot right now
Running a business through a hard season
Or waiting for “someday” to get their systems in place...
Forward this email to them.
Seriously. This might be the thing that gives them the clarity to start building margin.
And if that someone is you?
Don’t wait. Start with one task.
Because the best time to start automating is before you even need it. 🤖

If you’re curious about the step-by-step to build a Custom GPT, I’ve recorded a walkthrough that shows you exactly what I did. 👇️
This is just one specific use case, but you can clone and reuse this process for anything from meal planning to lead capture.
Trust me… once you see it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
Your challenge for the week:
Pick one recurring task and build your own Custom GPT. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just start.
