I built a time machine.

I built a time machine.

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.

Real talk. I was holding my baby girl the other night, just staring at her in awe as she peacefully slept in my arms.

She's eight months old now, and every day she’s changing… growing, learning, becoming her own little person.

I couldn't help but think: “Where did the time go?”

But here’s what hit me—when I looked back at how far she’s come, I realized just how much I’ve grown too.

Let me ask you a question.
When was the last time you looked back?

Like, really looked back?

I don’t mean to dwell on past failures or feel bad about what you haven’t accomplished yet... I mean time travel.

Here’s why it makes you a better entrepreneur.

Today in 6 minutes or less:

✔️ When I journeyed back in time…

🦖 When I Journeyed Back In Time…

It was about five years ago when I was figuring out how to balance everything.

I was doing the family thing, business thing, fitness thing… feeling like I was just treading water. I was juggling all these goals, seeing no progress, and wondering if it was ever going to work out.

Now, fast forward to today. I look back and realize—wow, I’ve done a lot.

But here’s the thing: I didn’t see it until I started “time traveling” in my own mind.

Here’s how it works:

Imagine you are 30 years in the future and have the chance to time travel back to this moment.

Even if it’s a toddler tantrum in the mall… You would go back in a second. Future you would give anything to be in this moment you’re living right now.

It might sound cheesy, but this works for me.

Another time travel exercise:

Close your eyes and go back five years. Think of where you were. What challenges were you facing? What goals seemed impossible?

And now look at how far you’ve come. How much has changed?

When I stop and think about the past few years, I’m in awe of how far I’ve come.

I finally got in shape (though the discipline is still tough). I bought that house (though it’s still a fixer-upper).

I have a family of five.

Where I’m at today is light years ahead of where I thought I’d be.

But when I get caught in the day-to-day, it’s easy to forget just how much I’ve built, just how much I’ve grown, and just how precious the present moment is.

🤝 Your Future Self Will Thank You

That constant perspective shift is key: Instead of focusing on what’s still missing, focus on what you’ve already gained.

We’re all guilty of the “gap” mindset (the constant chase of the next big thing.)

As entrepreneurs, we’re especially fixated on the gap—the difference between where we are now and where we think we need to be.

Example: A lot of us get stuck in the “I need to post on social every single day” cycle.

We put pressure on ourselves to post daily, and then, when it doesn’t happen… We shame ourselves. Sometimes to the point of not posting at all.

We need our businesses to stay relevant. But, like many of us, I don’t want to spend all my time glued to a screen.

I love being out with my kids, and I want to be present for those moments, but I also know I have to keep pushing my business forward.

So, what to do?

Find a way to merge both goals. Time. Travel.

Instead of constantly posting on social media every day, I started batching my content.

I spend one day filming multiple videos, schedule them out for the week, and delegate the actual posting to my team.

I can then go about my week—business still running, social media still posting, but I’m present with my family, free from the pressure to constantly be online.

It isn’t about “doing everything” or being everywhere at once.

It’s about finding the balance that works and allowing your business to run without you being on it every single second.

This is where time travel becomes a tool to hack your time.

By batching content, I’m able to “time-travel” into the future.

I get ahead of my own demands and still am able to step away from the work for a bit… without missing a beat.

🚀 How to Build a Time Machine

Now, here’s the business application of all this: You can use this time travel mindset to shift your entire perspective on growth.

When you focus on what you’ve achieved, you give yourself the space to celebrate your wins—and that momentum builds.

Ask yourself:

  • How far have I come in the last five years?

  • What was my business like then?

  • What did I accomplish that I didn’t think was possible?

Now, imagine looking ahead five years and thinking, “I would have killed to be where I am today.”

This is a practice in building confidence, perspective, and clarity for your future.

Real Talk

If you’re reading this and thinking, “Yeah, but I still feel stuck,” here’s the truth: You’re not stuck. You’re just looking at it the wrong way.

Shift your mindset from the “gap” to the “gain.” The goal isn’t to check off everything on your to-do list… it’s to focus on the progress you’ve already made. The more you do that, the more momentum you’ll have to tackle whatever’s next.

This is how you keep growing. Acknowledge how far you’ve come and use that to fuel where you want to go.

Alright, here’s your homework:

  • Close your eyes. Time travel back five years.

  • Reflect on where you were.

  • Now, time travel to the future. Picture yourself five years from now, looking at where you are today.

Message me and let me know what surprised you when you did this exercise. I’d love to hear what your gains are. Trust me, it’s more than you realize.
