How paying for talent actually saves you money šļø

Letās talk about something every entrepreneur faces:
The temptation to cut costs.
In todayās world, with inflation and globalization, itās easy to see why many businesses look to outsource or go global to save money.
And while that might seem like the right move, Iāve learned firsthand that sometimes the real cost-saving is in paying premium for top talentā
especially when things donāt go according to plan.
So hereās the question: Is it worth it to pay more for a team that can truly make things happen, or is going the cheaper route more cost-effective in the long run?

Today in 5 minutes or less:
āļø He did what in 18 minutes?
āļø Cheap fixes break easy
āļø Is your team the right fit?

HE DID WHAT IN 18 MINUTES?
Iāve been in a season where, frankly, I havenāt been feeling like my best self.
We all go through those phases where youāre pushing hard, but somethingās off. Maybe it's the mental fatigue, maybe itās the curveballs life *keeps* on throwing me, but either way, I found myself struggling to show up fully.
I wasnāt running on all cylinders, and I wasnāt sure Iād be able to pull off what needed to get doneālike a recent live event.
But hereās the kicker: when you invest in a team that truly gets it, even on your off days, the wheels keep turning.
I watched my team step in with talent, creativity, and a solution-focused mindset that turned potential disaster into one of the best events weāve ever had. No question, the result wouldnāt have been as smooth if Iād chosen to cut costs on talent.
Hereās a real-life example: our event setup was on the verge of falling apart.
I was given a last-minute heads up that we needed to set up our boothāin hours, not days. The budget? Tight. The resources? Limited. But what happened next? My team, led by Mario, sprang into action.
18 minutes after I handed over the budget and task, Mario had secured an LED wall within budget and had it installed before the event began. No panic, no hesitationājust solutions that came from a team that understood the mission, understood the urgency, and got it done.
This is what happens when you pay for talent.
You donāt have to micromanage. You donāt have to do it all. You hire people who can take something on and make it happen, no questions asked.

CHEAP FIXES BREAK EASY
Hereās the hard truth:
When you hire the cheapest option, youāre not just paying with moneyā¦ youāre paying with your time, energy, and mental bandwidth.
You might save a few bucks, but when things go wrongāwhen the deadlines slip or the quality of work isn't where it needs to beāyou find yourself stuck putting out fires instead of growing your business.
And letās be real: that opportunity cost? Itās wayyy higher than you think.
Iāve learned that paying a little more for someone who gets it (the kind of person who doesnāt need to be reminded, who isnāt just following a checklist but actually owns the task) pays off big time.
So, if you're thinking about cutting costs, ask yourself:
How much is your time really worth? How much is it worth to avoid the stress of fixing things later or managing poor-quality work?

IS YOUR TEAM THE RIGHT FIT?
Whatās the real takeaway here?
Your team is everything.
If youāre interested in becoming more than a one-man show, hereās my advice: As your business grows, so should your team.
And as your team grows, you should always look for ways to pay your people well.
The opportunity cost of hiring cheap labor is often a lot more than you thinkāand thatās something Iām constantly learning.
When you surround yourself with a team that gets your vision, has the expertise, and operates with the same level of urgency and professionalism as you, itās transformational.
You get to step back and focus on what matters most, knowing the right people are in place to carry things forward.
Iām going to leave you with thisā¦
Are you optimizing for the lowest cost, or the highest quality?
