Last week, I deemed New Year's Resolutions “out”...
And replaced them with something way better — sustainable skill-building.
We're getting into the nitty-gritty of leverage in business, and trust me, it's a game-changer.
Seesaws, wheelbarrows, brooms…
Sounds like a yard work list, right? Well, they're about to become your new business strategy go-tos.
Stick with me here because understanding these 3 things can dramatically shift how you grow your business and your bank account in 2024.

Wheelbarrows: Carrying More Than You Can Hold
A wheelbarrow is about efficiency and capacity. It allows you to carry more than your hands alone could handle.
In your business, this type of leverage could be automation, delegation, or scaling your operations.
It's about making your efforts go further, carrying more load with less strain.
Brooms: Be Wary of False Leverage
And then there's the broom.
At first glance, it seems like a lever, right?
But in the grand scheme of things, a broom provides limited leverage. It's a cautionary tale: not all efforts give you the leverage you think they will.
This could be a strategy or tool that seems useful but doesn’t actually help you move forward. It's the time spent on a skill or project that doesn't align with your goals – a false sense of progress.

So, as we continue to build skills this year, let's also be mindful of the leverage we're employing. Are we balancing our efforts like a seesaw, efficiently carrying our load like a wheelbarrow, or are we mistakenly sweeping the floor with a broom, mistaking motion for progress?

It's about understanding needs, solving problems, and communicating value. And let me tell you, mastering sales is like having a magic wand in your business arsenal.
Start with the basics – understand your product or service inside out.
Then, learn about your customers as if they're characters in your favorite show. What makes them tick? What are their pain points?
Next, practice, practice, practice. Every single sales call you take is sharpening your Swiss Army Knife.

Next up, listening.
Not just hearing but really listening. This one directly feeds into your sales superpower. The two go hand-in-hand.

Picture this – you’re in a meeting, the client’s talking about their challenges, and instead of planning your next pitch, you truly listen.
Bam! You catch something no one else does and tailor your solution perfectly. That’s the power of active listening.
Bring this skill into your marriage and relationships, too. Trust me.
3. Saying No: Building Your Business Fortress
Lastly: the art of saying 'no'.
It's tough, right? We're entrepreneurs; we're wired to say 'yes'!
But every 'yes' is time, energy, and resources spent. Saying 'no' is like building a fortress around your time and energy, allowing you to focus on what really matters.
Think of 'no' as not just a rejection, but a strategic decision. Every time you say 'no' to something that doesn't align with your vision, you're saying 'yes' to your priorities and goals.
You’re here to build a profitable business, not just a busy one.
Start saying 'no' to more things. It’s not about being negative; it’s about being selective. Your time is your most precious resource. Protect it fiercely.
