Stop switching lanes. Start committing.

My friend didn't “blow up.” Here's what actually happened.

Grass grows where it’s watered.
You already know that.
You just forget it when you’re tired, or behind, or staring at something that isn’t moving as fast as you hoped it would.
I’ve been thinking about my friend Nuno a lot lately.
He’s got around 40k people on YouTube.
He runs more than ten companies that rely on him every day.
He walked away from corporate just three years ago.
From the outside, it looks like he “blew up.” Like it all just clicked at once.
But that’s not what actually happened.
Standing near it long enough shows you something different.
It shows you what patience actually looks like when it’s practiced, not preached.

🏃♂️💨 The Part Everyone Skips
Nuno started ten years ago.
That’s the part people don’t see. And honestly, it’s the part most people don’t want to hear.
You don’t see the late nights, the years of posting videos when nobody cared, the stretches where quitting sounded easier than continuing.
You just see the scoreboard now.
The followers.
The companies.
The momentum.
And your brain fills in the gap with a story about luck or timing or talent.
But if you look closer, it gets painfully simple.

💪 What Consistency Actually Looks Like
He shows up even when he doesn’t feel ready.
He keeps learning and trying new things instead of waiting for permission.
He takes punches, adjusts, and keeps moving.
Most importantly, he keeps watering the same patch of ground. Over and over again.
No dramatic pivots every six months.
No abandoning the work because results weren’t instant.
Just steady, intentional effort pointed in one direction.
That’s not flashy. But it works.

🎯 Where This Hits Close to Home
Watching someone actually live this out hits different.
It forces you to ask some uncomfortable questions:
Where are you expecting growth without giving attention?
Where do you want progress, but you’re checking results more than doing the work?
Where are you wishing for traction while avoiding the boring reps that create it?
We all want momentum.
But momentum doesn’t come from watching the ground. It comes from watering it.

⏳The Myth of “Overnight”
We love the idea of overnight success.
It’s clean.
It’s exciting.
It gives us hope without requiring patience.
But the truth is much less dramatic: Overnight success takes about ten years.
Ten years of showing up when no one’s clapping.
Ten years of improving quietly.
Ten years of choosing commitment over novelty.
That’s not discouraging, it’s freeing.
Because it means you’re not behind.
You’re just early in the process you haven’t committed to yet.

🎉 What I’m Really Celebrating
I’m genuinely stoked for what Nuno’s built.
Not because of the subscriber count.
Not because of the companies.
But because he proved something simple and true:
If you commit, stay patient, and keep pouring into the things you say you want, the ground eventually gives back.
Not on your timeline. But reliably.

📅⏰ What You Can Do Today
If you’re feeling frustrated, stalled, or tempted to switch directions, pause for a moment.
This isn’t a motivation problem.
It’s usually a patience problem.
You don’t need a new plan. You need deeper commitment to the one you already chose.
Pick the one patch of grass you actually want to grow.
Stop splitting your attention across ten different ideas.
Do one small, boring rep that moves that thing forward.
Repeat tomorrow. even if nothing changes yet.
Growth doesn’t respond to urgency. It responds to consistency.
Pick the patch. Water it. Keep watering it.
And let time do its job.
