The doctor’s visit that changed everything

The doctor’s visit that changed everything

Over a year ago now, I went in for a routine doctor’s visit that changed everything.

I was faced with shocking health news—pre-diabetic, high cortisol, you name it.

All this while feeling perfectly fine.

Scary, right?

This was a real wake-up call. It made me realize how we often overlook deep issues until they demand our attention.

I’ve been changing my habits and working out like crazy ever since.

But what if I told you that there's a principle from the fitness world…

One that totally transformed my approach to health…

That could also revolutionize your business?

✔️ How to run your business like a bodybuilder

🤷 Hyper-what??

Following this health scare, I hired a personal trainer…

He introduced me to something called hypertrophy—focused exercise that promotes muscle growth, not just activity.

It’s all about growing, not just going through the motions. Let me explain.

Imagine two people at the gym:

  1. One guy lifts light weights easily. He finishes his routine without breaking a sweat.

  2. The second? He chooses heavier weights. By his last reps, he’s struggling. His form shakes a bit.

But that struggle? That's where growth happens.

The first maintains, the second transforms.

This is a powerful metaphor for business. Being busy feels safe—handling emails, attending routine meetings, ticking off easy tasks.

But real growth = hypertrophy training for your business.

It involves tackling challenging projects that push your boundaries, leading to significant growth. It’s about prioritizing tasks that stretch your capabilities.

Working ON the business rather than IN the business.

Growth comes from pushing limits, embracing discomfort. Just like in the gym, the right efforts in business lead to visible, impactful results.

👬 There are 2 types of people

Just like muscles grow through the stress and recovery of hypertrophy training, businesses thrive by embracing discomfort.

The idea isn't to seek out stress for its own sake…

But to recognize that meaningful growth often comes from stepping into challenging new territories.

This could mean adopting new tech tools, changing up strategies, or even redefining your niche.

Let me share a personal transformation.

There are 2 types of people in the world:

Not too long ago, I was the inbox on the right. Drowning in a sea of notifications, and my days were dictated by never-ending emails… 🙃

This left little room for strategic thinking.

It felt like I was just reacting all day, not really leading.

So, I took a leap. I decided to embrace discomfort and give up direct control over my daily communications.

I handed off my email management to an assistant.

Now, my assistant cleans up my inbox, replies to routine messages, and ensure that only emails needing my direct attention reach me.

You could be that inbox on the left. I never thought it was possible… But I can tell you it feels amazing 🔥

This shift has allowed me to focus more intentionally on high-level tasks.

I spend my days casting vision, building, and developing new products—activities that are truly my zone of genius and actually what I love doing.

🏋️‍♂️ How to run your business like a bodybuilder:

  1. Audit Everything: Start by conducting a thorough review of your daily tasks. Which activities push you and your business to grow, and which are just ticking boxes? This step is crucial to differentiate between work that genuinely contributes to your goals and work that just keeps you busy.

  2. Implement a 'Growth Zone' Schedule: Set aside specific blocks of time each day or week for tasks that challenge you and have the potential to significantly impact your business. During these periods, eliminate distractions and focus only on high-growth activities. This could mean turning off notifications, closing your email, or even working in a different environment where you can concentrate better.

  3. Measure and Adjust: What gets measured gets managed. Regularly track the outcomes of your efforts to see what's working and what isn't. Use tools and metrics relevant to your goals to evaluate progress. Based on these insights, refine your strategies and processes to enhance productivity and ensure you are always operating in your Growth Zone.

This is how you run your business like a bodybuilder…

Intense, focused, and always aimed at growth.

This not only maximizes your output but also ensures that every effort contributes in a big way to your overall business goals.

Challenge yourself.

Apply the hypertrophy concept to one area of your business this month. Pick a task that feels like a stretch and commit to it fully. See what transformations unfold.

Remember: Real growth comes from targeted, intelligent effort. It’s not about just showing up. It’s about how you show up.

Let’s push beyond our comfort zone and truly grow. 💪

To profiting more and working less. 💸
