Three Spots, One Warning, and a Hard Truth

Three Spots, One Warning, and a Hard Truth

Sun Burn Help GIF by Ethan Barnowsky

Have you ever found out something was wrong only after it had been wrong for a while?

I had my dermatologist check-in this week.

I go every four months. Last time, nothing had to be removed.

This time, I had three spots burned off. And a warning that my bottom lip may have precancerous cells.

Here's the part that's been stuck in my head since.

Precancerous cells don't show up overnight. They build quietly, for months, before anything is visible enough to catch.

By the time you see something, the damage has already been happening for a while. You just weren't looking.

Today in 3 minutes or less:

✔️ The same delay is happening with your clients right now

✔️ Sunscreen, a hat, and a check-up

✔️ A 10 minute check you can run today

🌞 Damage happens before you see it

Here's a stat that stopped me cold when I looked it up after my appointment.

SaaS product usage declines by an average of 41% in the quarter before a customer cancels.

The average customer actually decides to cancel 30 to 60 days before they ever submit the request.

Which means by the time a client tells you they're leaving, they made that decision over a month ago.

You just found out late.

Cells don’t turn precancerous the week before an appointment.

They'd been changing for months. I just hadn't looked closely enough to catch it in time.

👒 Sunscreen, a hat, and a check-up

You don't need fancy software to catch this. You need to check three specific things, once a month, for every client.

Login frequency. If it's down 40% or more compared to their normal pattern over the last 90 days, that's not nothing. That's usually your earliest signal.

Whether they're still using the thing you set up for them.

If the core feature they're paying for has gone untouched for three or more weeks, they've quietly stopped getting value, even if their card is still being charged.

The third one is simpler.

When's the last time they reached out, replied, or showed up to anything? Thirty days of total silence isn't a good client. It's usually a client who's already checked out.

None of these require new tools. They're sitting in your HighLevel account and your inbox right now.

✅ Run this check today

Acquiring a new client costs 5 to 7 times more than keeping the one you already have. That math alone makes this worth ten minutes.

Pick your three quietest clients this month. Check their login activity, whether they're touching what they're paying for, and when you last actually heard from them.

If two or more of those are flashing, don't wait for them to tell you something's wrong. Reach out first. Ask how it's going. Ask what they're trying to accomplish that they haven't been able to.

You might catch something before it becomes a cancellation. Or you might just have a good conversation with a client who needed to hear from you.

Either way, you'll know instead of guessing.

If you run that check today and find a client whose automation broke, or who needs something rebuilt before you reach back out...

You don't have to be the one who fixes it.

That's literally what our Projects Team is for. Hand them a funnel, automation, the client who needs a refresh, whatever needs rebuilding, or if you just want to give your clients extra value on a platter… our team handles every project while you preserve the MRR.

My story ends like this: More shade. Better hats. Better sunscreen. Less ego. More checkups.

I’m still surfing. Still going outside. Still grateful.

Just hopefully a little wiser, and a little less likely to find out too late.

To profiting more and working less. 💸
