As I get ready to put on my moon costume and wander the streets with my Outer Space gang (my wife’s going as the sun, and the kids, little astronauts)... 🚀 

I know exactly which houses we’ll be trick-or-treating at. 

You see, every town has that one neighborhood, the star attraction of Halloween festivities. 

It's a magnet for trick-or-treaters, pulling them away from every other neighborhood. The other streets? Ghost towns. 👻 

It got me thinking: How do these houses market themselves as a Halloween haven? 

Is it mere luck? Sheer effort? Or perhaps, the allure of those king-sized candy bars?

If our businesses were houses on Halloween night, we’d want to be on that bustling street. The ones with a queue of eager customers…

…Not the sad, forgotten houses with untouched candy bowls. 🕸️ 

Even if Halloween isn't your scene, let this serve as a reminder:

Success isn't merely about having a good offer. It's about the vibe, the visibility, the pull. 

And with Black Friday lurking around the corner, remember this lesson: Aim to do more than just participate.

Make your business the house everyone’s dying to visit.

Because even the most spectacular deals are useless if there’s no one knocking.

Black Friday is the business world's Trick-or-Treat night. That wonderful blend of excitement and chaos.

As an ex-Best Buy employee during my teenage years, I've seen the frenzy firsthand. Lines stretching around the block for days on end, customers camping out to snag the best deals – it was exhilarating yet overwhelming, to say the least. The risk of a stampede was real.

Nowadays, much of the battleground has moved online.

Shoppers, armed with their credit cards, eagerly await the virtual doors to swing open.

Those shoppers, if you do it right, can include…

  • Newbies, curious and ready to explore.

  • Long-time observers, folks who’ve been eyeing your product but haven’t found a good enough reason to hit ‘Checkout’.

  • Existing clients and subscribers, interested in new features and services you have to offer.

  • Your fans, the loyal supporters who really love your software and your quality, always eager to back your latest releases.

This November 23 brings a huge opportunity, yes, even for those of us in the SaaS world.

This day can supercharge your year’s revenue.

And if we take anything from tonight’s spooky fun, it’s this: Being the go-to house feels really good…

So, what does it take to be the neighborhood favorite and score this kind of love on Black Friday?

You don’t become the business on the block without a little prep. 

To come out the other side triumphant, you need to:

  1. Craft an irresistible offer. 

  2. Make sure you’re visible.

These top Halloween houses tonight aren’t getting ready at the last minute. They’ve had their decorations out for most of the season, and they hit the store for the best candies well before any of us.

They have their decorations out, their candy ready, and their lights on.

Just like my kids and I will be steering clear of houses with their lights off tonight…

…No one will come knocking this Black Friday if you don’t turn on the porch light. Or don’t try at all to get your offer out.

So, what should you be doing to get ready for Black Friday? Here’s your checklist:

  1. Set clear goals for what you want to get out of the big day. New subscribers? Awesome add-ons to reduce churn and wow current clients? More email leads?

  2. Develop an offer that undoubtedly resonates with your audience’s needs

  3. Prepare your site or build a new funnel to flaunt your offer

  4. Create a complete promotional campaign, made up of social media content, an email campaign, and a sprinkle of ads

Being the neighborhood favorite feels great. And when it happens on Black Friday, your year is made.

Black Friday is the Trick-or-Treat of business, and if you can master a crave-able offer that resonates with your audience + put up enough lights and blow-up characters to catch their attention, you’ll be sitting pretty.
