We are conditioned to see these setbacks as punishments.

But unfair moments have a strange way of forcing movement.

What feels like a brutal loss in the moment is often the exact shove needed to create life-changing leverage.

Your biggest breakthroughs are hiding behind your worst days.

By this I mean…

I can literally trace every major milestone in my business and personal life back to a moment of feeling cheated by the universe.

A devastating breakup over Skype (lol) felt like a huge betrayal, but it kept me exactly where I needed to be to meet my wife weeks later.

A firm rescinding a comfortable job offer because I tried to negotiate a teensy higher salary felt like a total slap in the face.

Instead of locking down a safe paycheck, that rejection forced me to double down on building my own business.

The ultimate test was having to leave my newborn son in the hospital during the chaotic early days of COVID.

That fear shattered my ego entirely, it destroyed my hesitation to do the uncomfortable work required to scale our team from a handful of people to hundreds.

What feels unfair in the moment can quietly become an unfair advantage later.

Not because pain is magical or because hardship = success…

But difficult moments force decisions.

A lot of growth starts the moment your old way of thinking stops working.

Comfort keeps a lot of people stuck longer than they realize.

We delay the hard conversation. Avoid visibility. Stay inside familiar routines.

Then life interrupts the pattern.

And suddenly our fears feel smaller than the cost of staying the same.

That’s why some people come out of painful seasons sharper, clearer, and more focused.

Because hardship stripped away hesitation.

⛈️ Don’t Waste the Hard Season

If life feels unfair right now, don’t rush to tie a neat bow on everything...

I'm not trying to be preachy, just sharing my own experience.

Often times, these seasons only make sense in reverse. You can’t see clearly when you’re in the thick of it.

But most people quit when the game gets unpredictable…

They retreat to safety and let resentment take over.

If you use that exact same friction to adapt, to lock in, you build a level of resilience that cannot be faked or bought.

Over time, this specific mindset creates a massive gap between you and your competitors.

You stop fearing failure and start using it.

You don’t always control what happens, but you do control whether pain becomes perspective or just bitterness.

Here’s how to start turning your setbacks into leverage right now:

• Look at a recent setback. How is this obstacle forcing you to improve your current systems or offers?

• Stop hiding behind comfort. What’s one thing you’ve been avoiding because you were afraid of looking foolish? Creating Social Media content? Stepping into sales?

Most breakthroughs don’t start out looking like breakthroughs.

At first, they usually look like “UGH. Life’s so unfair.”
